The Titanic Experience, Whitestar Line Building, Cobh
Titanic Experience Cobh is a visitor centre located in the original White Star Line Ticket Office situated in the centre of Cobh town. It was the departure point for the final 123 passengers who boarded the Titanic.
The visitor experience is presented in two parts. The first is an exciting immersive audio visual tour retracing the steps of the 123 passengers who boarded Titanic from Queenstown on April 11th 1912. The second part of Titanic Experience examines how it all went wrong; the unbelievable and 'almost' impossible sequence of events that occurred to cause the Titanic to sink. With computer generated graphics recreating the collision and subsequent sinking, film analysis of the Titanic on the sea bed and expert interviews these interactive exhibits allow visitors to discover how and why the Titanic sank on that fateful night of the 15th April 1912.
Finally, the Story Room of Touchscreen Computers allows one to look at the personalities aboard the ship and in particular to discover the fate of the 123 Queenstown passengers.
In 2016, Mirador Media was commissioned to supply, configure and install hardware to support new interpretative elements including a series of multilingual audio narratives, videos, and character projections. Our sturdy single-cup headphone, customised and assembled in-house, was installed in many audio points throught the tour as they can resist the daily wear and tear of many thousands of visitors. Audio and video players were also customised for this project and integrated seamlessly into the existing decor and structures.
